Eshkolot Program – Teaching Certification in Jewish Israeli Culture

“Eshkolot – Israeli Judaism at Kerem” is a unique teachers training program for the instruction of the subject “Israeli Culture”, taught using a beit-midrash learning model focused on collaborative and dialogue-promoting learning in small study groups.

The program includes an in depth study of classic and modern Jewish texts originating from varied Jewish communities, introduction to Jewish Israeli culture and its myriad forms of expression (literature, visual art, music, etc.), providing tools for the instruction of Jewish Israeli Culture and an encounter with diverse identities in Israeli society, and the experience of teaching the subject in schools with the support of professional and personal mentoring.

The Eshkolot program is taught at the Kerem Institute which specializes in the retraining of academics for teaching and in providing teacher training in a variety of subjects.

The program accepts graduates of Bachelor’s degrees or students about to graduate, and provides a full tuition scholarship, conditional to a commitment to teach the subject “Jewish Israeli Culture”.
