Mimizrach Shemesh, The Netu’im Program: Beit Midrash for social leadership

Memizrach Shemesh, is a Beit Midrash (House of Study) and Center for Jewish Social Activism and Leadership in Israel. We cultivate leaders and train activists who are dedicated to the values of communal responsibility and social action rooted in all Jewish traditions including those of the Sephardi and Mizrachi heritage. The Center was founded in 2000 by the Avi Chai Foundation and Alliance “Kol Yisrael Chaverim”

Netu’im is a Beit Midrash for social leadership of students rooted in the periphery. The program is structured for group processes that shape personal and local identity, while connecting them to community activity and leadership training.

The Netu’im program this year opened in three sites: Afula, Migdal Ha’Emeq and Be’er Sheva in collaboration with local Young Adult Centers, the Posen Foundation, the Sasson Foundation and the Gertzman Foundation.

*  Netu’im in Hebrew means “rooted”
